Recognition cards😊 - Have you shared your recognition card(s) with anyone this month?  Please be sure to take a minute to thank someone that has helped you professionally or personally this month.

Learning Walks - As mentioned, we will be welcoming a small team of administrators, on Nov. 11th, for our first district Learning Walk.  The following is a message from Holly Magness, Jason Hurley and Kelly Luedeke:

Purpose of the Learning Walks

Learning walks are designed to enhance professional development and instructional practices by providing opportunities for educators to observe and learn from each other. Learning walks are a continuous improvement tool we will use as a means for gathering data to inform school improvement plans, celebrate successes, study growth overtime, and develop next steps.

Oct/Nov 2024 Learning Walk Details

This year KASD will be conducting two learning walks in every building; one in October and another in February. The learning walks are connected to Universal Classroom Practices that support school continuous improvement plans.

Peer Observation #1 - Please find 5-10 minutes to visit two classrooms (core and/or MAPEL).  The focus of this observation will be UCP #3.  Please have this completed by the Nov. 13 staff meeting.  Click here to sign-up and please remember to send the teacher a google invite.

Reminders...

Parent/Teacher Conferences - Our sign-up will be sent on Nov. 4th.  If necessary, please begin working with any specialists to pre-schedule any conferences that may require more time or extra people in attendance.  We will have in-person options on Tuesday and Thursday.  Friday will be virtual.  Thank you, Jean, for working on this sign-up for us!

Two weeks of October to go yet...let's keep the focus on these two pursuits to finish the month:

Reteach Responsibility (Review)

Reflect on times when students could have followed directions better to show Responsibility this week. Re-teach the importance of following directions the first time to make class run smoother and get work done on time to the whole class and then try to provide specific review to 2 students who might need added supports.

Responsibility Role Model (Recognize) - REPEAT

Every day this week celebrate 1 student who was the Responsibility Role Model. Celebrate them to the whole class or give them praise in private. Recognition that is effective is timely, genuine, and specific. It involves noticing when students use learned skills to practice Responsibility and acknowledging them for their effort to model or improve. Bonus: Challenge the student you recognized to try to notice someone else practicing Responsibility and give their own compliment!

~Mr. Ryan for spending time with students when you are at Tanner!  The relationships you are building during your limited time here is so amazing to see!  Also, thank you for working with families to ensure they have access to any resources that they could benefit from.

~For all the field trip communications with families, main office, EAs, all team members, etc.  The extra planning is appreciated!

~4K team for planning Savannah's Bridal Shower!

~ALL for the kind words and gifts for boss' day.  I appreciate all of you so much and enjoy the purposeful work we do together each day.  Thank you for continuing to provide a safe and caring learning environment for our students!
