Win the week! 😎

Tornado Drill - We will be participating in the statewide drill at 1:45 Thursday.  This is during recess time.  We will send students to PM recess at the conclusion of the drill.  Please plan for approx. 1:50-2:10 recess vs. 1:35-1:55.  Please let me know asap if there may be issues with that plan.

Be Present, Be Powerful! - I'd like to have a little attendance push this final quarter.  As you heard on the announcements, we will work towards a school-wide ice cream celebration (the numbers are tricky to monitor each day...so give me some grace on that ;)).  I'm hoping to do a celebration at the end of April and then again at the end of May.  What does this mean for you...
  • Welcome students to school each day with positive greetings - no matter what time they arrive
  • Celebrate students being present and also continue to wish students well when they are not present (many of you do this)
    • We miss students when they are gone, we love when they are here!
  • Utilize the language for the 'campaign' - Being present is powerful!!
PAC Meeting - We have two meetings left.  Need anything to finish the year out strong?  Please fill out a request.  If you are not able to attend the meeting, a quick meeting with me would be helpful for me to talk through the request on your behalf.  We meet April 7 and May 5.

Spring BIMAS - The Spring BIMAS window will be open from 4/7 through 4/22.  There will be an hour of time allotted for this to be completed at the 4/21 PD day.  If you have it completed prior to the 21st, the hour of time will be yours.

CDT support - The Character Development team met to review the list of behavior challenges and potential solutions discussed at our March PD day.  The team will be providing a couple of visuals for interrupting/blurting and unkind behaviors.  Kristin also has some great videos for review of behavior expectations as well.  Click here to go directly to the page.

Field Day - Mark your calendar! - Thank you, MAPEL team and grade level teams for the feedback on Field Day dates.  We have discussed the options and landed on the following plan:
  • May 22 - 4K Field Day
  • June 3 - 5K & 1st Field Day
First Grade - It's Spring, Let's Sing! - Mark your calendar! - Concert date is set for May 23.  We will be having the concert at 10:30 with a practice time that morning.  ALL 1st grades will be at the same time.  We will have additional seating brought in for families.  There will be NO specials on this 1/2 day.  I will build a schedule for recess options to get feedback on.  Thank you!

Courageous Call (Role Model)

This week, think about an individual or a group of people in our community who model Courage in their jobs. Maybe it’s a firefighter, a librarian, or an administrator. Perhaps it's a friend or another teacher. Set up a phone call or video call with 1 of these people to thank them in front of your students to role model what it looks like to practice Courageous Kindness and celebrate them for specific ways that they demonstrate Courage.

EnCOURAGEment (Remind)

Sometimes a few words from a trusted adult can make all the difference in empowering a student to show their strength. Choose 2 students this week to encourage. Identify 1 student who could contribute meaningful ideas if they used their voice more often and 1 student who could be a positive influence among their friends by practicing the Courage skills we are working on in class.

~Kristin, Michelle, Carrie, Amie, Brooke W., Janet for the quick responses and extra help with sub coverage.

~Beth S. & Jean for your strong relationships and kindness you show all of our guest teachers.

~Kayla and Sarah for developing an incentive plan for 5K and 1st grade lunch/recess behaviors.
